February is Free "Prior Evidence" Month!

Do you know someone who may be Mensa material? During the month of February, they can send in the results of any standardized intelligence test they've taken in the past, and we will waive the application fee to review their scores for American Mensa membership. (There is usually a $40 fee to review test scores.)

American Mensa accepts the results from more than 200 tests; a partial list of accepted tests and scores may be found at www.us.mensa.org/testscores. To take advantage of this offer, your friends and colleagues should download an application from www.us.mensa.org/application. They will need to return the application, along with their test scores, by February 28, 2010.

American Mensa, Ltd. offers two different test batteries for admission:
1) The Mensa Admission Test is appropriate for most candidates. It consists of two tests, either of which can qualify you to join Mensa.

2) The Culture Fair Test is language neutral. It is appropriate for people who are dyslexic or any person who speaks English as a second language. It consists of three tests, of which any one can qualify you to join Mensa. Two of the tests are untimed (within reasonable limits). Candidates should be able to understand English spoken at the 6th grade level. This test is scheduled once or twice a year. You may request to be put on a notification list.

You may take both tests, once each. The test fee is $40 per session, payable in cash, credit card, American Mensa voucher, or check or money order payable to American Mensa, Ltd.

All candidates must have a photo ID. Candidates between the ages of 14 and 18 must have proof of age and be accompanied to registration by a parent or guardian, who will sign the consent to test. Unfortunately, we cannot test anyone younger than 14 years old.

Many of our tests are administered on Saturday mornings. If this is not convenient for you, please suggest a day or time that is. We cannot guarantee we will be able to accommodate you, but we will try. Please let us know which test you prefer, the Mensa Admission Test or the Culture Fair Test, at ritestcoordinator@yahoo.com.

You can also submit prior evidence for admission, or take the Home test to see how you do before taking the actual test. Good luck, and we hope to see you there!

The geographic area of Rhode Island Mensa covers all of Rhode Island and Bristol County in Southeastern Massachusetts.

The American Mensa Admissions Tests are given for the purpose of admission into Mensa. A score at the 98th percentile on any one of our tests or American Mensa, Ltd. sanctioned prior evidence qualifies you for Mensa membership. Note: American Mensa does not release test scores and percentiles to anyone, including candidates. The final authority on admission matters rests with American Mensa, Ltd., under the aegis of the American Mensa Supervisory Psychologist.
